what are jack and odie book activities

If you’ve ever had pre-k kids, or watched those of us who have, you know what an amazing age it can be. How eager they are to learn, and how critical it is that this eagerness is welcomed, encouraged, nourished and provoked.

And yet, at times, it seems it’s all we can do to simply take one step forward, let alone juggle the many responsibilities and joys that come along with having small children. And though if asked, all of us would confirm that our kids are much more important than the many things on our to-do lists, it seems spending time with them undistracted, keenly focused on them and their amazing little worlds, is what gets pushed to the end. Often times to the next day, and so on.

Life is very busy for all of us, but the emotional needs of our kids aren’t any less important than they were for kids a hundred years ago. For all our technological advances, it’s the simple things our kids want and need most. Time, attention, love, and the encouragement to explore the world around them.

Jack and Odie is here to help. I can’t snap my fingers and miraculously tidy up your house or pay your bills, but I can help you make the most of your one-on-one time with your child. By creating highly imaginative, engaging and fun activities centered around the best in children’s literature – old and new – I can eliminate one critical barrier to giving her the gift of your focused attention. These book activities will not only help your child with some of the very skills and strategies that’ll be important as she enters kindergarten, it will give her something far more important – you. The time you spend with her each week as you play your way through these activities will be priceless, for her and for you.

These aren’t classroom assignments or checklists. They’re creative and engaging and designed to inspire your child’s imagination, while subtly (but surely) building a wonderful foundation of skills that will bolster his confidence and serve him well for many years to come. And they’re loads of fun, too.

WIth a book activity from Jack and Odie, you’ll have the potential for hours of very special time with your little one. These activities are very flexible – whether you can devote 20 minutes or 2 hours, the ideas can be tailored to fit your schedule. And though the idea was to give you an activity to do each day of the week, you can absolutely do them at your own pace, on whatever schedule works best for you and your child.

How It Works

Every time I write a post here at Jack and Odie, I’m giving you one free book activity, because each post is the first day’s activity for the chosen book. You can print it out, make copies, share it to your friends, whatever you like. And if it seems like a book and activity your child will enjoy, then you can buy the remaining 4 days worth of activities. It’s super simple, and very reasonable. At $5.00, you’re getting a week of wonderful and engaging book activities that your child will look forward to every day.

The time you’re giving to your child by purchasing a week of book activities is well worth the minimal cost. And sometimes, it’s takes making a small financial commitment, and taking the associated action, to make time for things that you know are important. So go on, buy a book activity…you’ll both be glad you did.
